Qi Gong
Gentle energy cultivation practice combining movement, breath, and meditation. Harmonize your body's vital energy for improved health and inner peace.
Program Overview
Qi Gong (pronounced "chee gong") is an ancient Chinese practice that cultivates and balances the body's vital energy, or "qi." Through coordinated movements, breathing techniques, and focused meditation, Qi Gong promotes healing, vitality, and overall wellbeing.
Our Foundational Qi Gong classes provide accessible instruction suitable for all ages and fitness levels. The gentle, flowing movements can be performed standing or seated, making this practice ideal for those seeking a low-impact approach to improved health and energy.
Taught by James F. Garofalo L.Ac., a certified Foundational Qi Gong instructor in the Energy Arts System of Bruce Frantzis, our classes integrate traditional wisdom with a clear, methodical teaching approach. Each session guides you through practices designed to dissolve tension, increase vitality, and cultivate inner calm.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between Qi Gong. & Tai Chi?
While both practices cultivate vital energy through mindful movement, Qi Gong focuses primarily on energy cultivation and healing, with simpler, more repetitive movements. Tai Chi is a martial art that includes self-defense applications and more complex movement sequences. Qi Gong is often considered more accessible for beginners and those with physical limitations.
Do I need to be flexible or physically fit to start?
No. Qi Gong is one of the most accessible movement practices available. The gentle movements can be adapted to any fitness level, and many exercises can be performed seated if standing is difficult. The practice actually helps improve flexibility and strength over time.
How long until I notice benefits?
Many students report feeling more relaxed and centered after their first class. With consistent practice (2-3 times per week), most people notice improvements in energy levels, sleep quality, and stress management within 4-6 weeks. Deeper benefits continue to develop over months and years of regular practice.
What should I bring to class?
Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows for easy movement. Bring water and wear flat, flexible shoes or practice barefoot. No special equipment is needed. We recommend arriving a few minutes early to settle in and prepare for practice.
