Program Details

Program Description

Join us for a unique, girls-only soccer program designed to build skills, confidence, and friendships in a supportive environment. This female-forward soccer experience creates a space where young girls can develop their abilities, find their voice on the field, and form meaningful connections with teammates. Through skill-focused activities and weekly pickup games, participants enjoy the beautiful game in a fun, low-pressure atmosphere that encourages growth and enjoyment.

Program Details


Dates: Thursdays | July 10th-August 14th, 2025 (6-week program)

Time: 4:30-5:30 PM

Ages/Grades: Grades 2-4

Experience Level: All skill levels welcome

Location: Austin Park - Upper Fields, 1 East Austin Street, Skaneateles, NY 13152 (Parking lot at the north end of the park)

Format: Skill development with weekly pickup games

Donation: 10% of proceeds go back to the Skaneateles Youth Soccer Organization (SYSO)

Participant Cap: 10-15 players

Coaches:


Margot Ridgeway

Margot Ridgeway is a former professional soccer player and US Soccer F-License coach with a deep passion for developing young athletes. She played collegiately at NC State University and the University of Michigan before competing professionally for AC Sparta Praha in the Czech Republic and Australia's NPL Queensland.


Originally from Fair Haven, NJ, she played for top ECNL and USDA academy teams and attended multiple U.S. Youth National Team Training Camps. Margot has coached players ages 2 to 18 at all levels, from grassroots soccer to elite ECNL and USDA academy teams. Now pursuing her US Soccer D License, she is committed to growing as a coach.


Outside of soccer, she holds a Master's in Environmental Justice from the University of Michigan School for Environment & Sustainability and is the Director of the Global Sustainable Solutions Team at the U.S. Green Chamber of Commerce. She is currently training for the 2025 NYC Marathon, her second marathon with Tedy's Team, as a proud stroke survivor, raising awareness and championing the comeback journeys of fellow survivors.


Having recently moved to Marcellus, she is excited to join the Finger Lakes community to help grow soccer, build community, and inspire the next generation of athletes!


Coach Laurel Murphy

Coach Murphy is a volunteer instructor for this program and serves as the Secretary for the Skaneateles Youth Soccer Organization (SYSO).

Laurel was an accomplished collegiate soccer player at Yale University, where she started every game in her career and finished third all-time in points (77), fourth in goals (30), and fifth in assists (17). Her collegiate career included impressive accolades such as first team All-Ivy, second team NSCAA Northeast Region, and Soccer Buzz Northeast Region first team honors.


Before Yale, Laurel was a two-time all-state selection at Westside High School in Nebraska, which was the state runner-up in each of her four years. She was also the MVP of her club team and a state champion in No. 1 doubles for tennis.

Coach Murphy brings her extensive playing experience and passion for soccer development to our program.

What should my child bring?

Required: Shin guards, soccer socks, cleats (outdoor shoes), and a water bottle.


Is there a season-long commitment?

No, we offer flexible week-to-week participation to accommodate busy schedules.
